Not only is Sunbrella Horizon Capriccio a beautiful, soft, and comfortable marine vinyl, it is also an anti-pinking marine upholstery that comes with a 3-year limited warranty to back it up. The most common boat vinyl pinking is caused by a pigment or dye that excretes from a benign bacterium called streptoverticillium reticulum that is commonly found in marine environments. The discolored vinyl boat seats will have a blotchy appearance in shades of reds, pinks and purples.

To avoid boat cover stained seats, follow these guidelines to stop the food supply to the bacteria:

  • Choose an anti-mold boating upholstery such as Sunbrella Horizon Capriccio for your vinyl needs.
  • Keep your marine vinyl clean and dry by wiping it down after each boating trip with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Ensure there are no wet towels or clothing left sitting on the vinyl upholstery.
  • Avoid using PABA sunscreen while sitting on your boat seat vinyl.
